Lovely leisure

Everything concerning Joy Division is something that deserves to be posted...
And this song is pretty good, though.

Perfume Genius - Mr. Peterson

"My work came back from class
With notes attached
Of a place and time
Or how my body kept him up at night

He let me smoke weed in his truck
If I could convince him I loved him enough
Enough, enough, enough, enough

He made me a tape of Joy Division
He told there was a part of him missing
When I was sixteen
He jumped off a building

Mr Petersen
I know you were ready to go
I hope there's room for you up above
Or down below".

We love Sofia!

Francis Ford Coppola & Sofia

I know that I usually talk about music in this blog, but that doesn't mean that I can't present you some serious...some serious "stuff".

Some days ago I read about the new movie directed by Sofia Coppola.
For those who don't know about her, she's the daughter of the legendary director Francis Ford Coppola, a world famous actress but most of all she's the first american woman in the history of The Academy Awards (the Oscars) to have been nominated for the Best Director award and to have won the Best Original Screenplay one. So I think you got how big it's to find out that her new movie is coming out...
Her new movie is called "Somewhere" and it's all about an A-class american movie star; one of those who live at the Chateau Marmont Hotel, doing sex, drugs & rock'n'roll...It might seem like the best (or the worst, depending on your taste) kind of life, but one day...one day Cleo comes in.

P.s. Just to tell you how this post is connected to music: Sofia Coppola has two daughters with Thomas Mars, who's the lead singer of Phoenix, who play the soundtrack of "Somewhere", while in the trailer you can listen to a demo song by The Strokes, called "I'll try anything once", a demo version of "You only live once".

Balmy

Still studying...can't keep my head away from my duties...but that doesn't mean I can't pretend I'm on a beach, sipping my cocktail and chilling!
I'd define this music: easy listening for summer nights.
Keep Shelly in Athens - Fokionos Negri Street
Keep Shelly in Athens - Cremona Memories
Keep Shelly in Athens - Rainy Night

L'élégance du hérisson

"If you like cool camera tricks and fancy editing in your music videos, this clip for “Underwear” by Icelandic electronica trio FM Belfast may be your dream come true. It’s based on a simple concept with shots of people dancing alone in their underwear (and subsequently making fools of themselves) with some very clever edits then added in by the directing team of Daniel Scheinert and Dan Kwanadds.
DANIELS, as they are called, use an array of techniques including variable speeds, retiming, time displacement, match cuts, and stop-motion that gives the video a very surrealistic vibe. The result is something that’s technically incredible and, to go along with the lyrics of the song, intimate and joyful. It helps that the track’s not half bad either. Watch the video below and download “Underwear” (plus one more from FM Belfast)."
Thank you, MFKWCRG!

Florence is back!

After the huge success of "Lungs", Florence + The Machine are back with a new single, created for the soundtrack of "Eclipse", the third chapter of the "Twilight" saga. Although I've never seen any of the three films, not particularly meeting my taste, I have to say that they have done such a good job for "Eclipse", in terms of soundtrack! There are songs by the most important bands and artists of the moment, and even some "old glories"! And, think about it...most of the bands that you see in the soundtrack, have already been presented you by me! Yessss...

Florence + The Machine - Heavy In Your Arms
"Eclipse" soundtrack:
1.  Metric — “Eclipse (All Yours)”
2.
Muse — “Neutron Star Collision (Love is Forever)”
3.
The Bravery — “Ours”
4.
Florence + The Machine — “Heavy In Your Arms”
5.
Sia — “My Love”
6.
Fanfarlo — “Atlas”
7.
The Black Keys — “Chop And Change”
8.
The Dead Weather — “Rolling In On A Burning Tire”
9.
Beck and Bat For Lashes — “Let’s Get Lost”
10.
Vampire Weekend — “Jonathan Low”
11.
UNKLE — “With You In My Head” (feat. The Black Angels)
12.
Eastern Conference Champions — “A Million Miles An Hour”
13.
Band of Horses — “Life On Earth”
14.
Cee Lo Green — “What Part of Forever”
15.
Howard Shore — “Jacob’s Theme”

I'd never suggest you to go see the movie, but I'm surely suggesting you to go buy the soundtrack!

It's been three years...

...since the Klaxons released their breakthrough album Myths Of The Near Future. 3 years is a good while, leaving some big expectations/anticipation for the follow up Surfing The Void.  This past week they gave us all a little taste of what’s to come and here it is:
Klaxons - Flashover
Is it at least comparable to Golden Skans?! What do you think..?
Klaxons - Golden Skans (this is really hard to beat though)
(Thank you P.P.)

Shock me!

Everybody knows Interpol (and if you do not know them, find out immediately
about who they are and what wonderfully deep music they play), but perhaps
not everybody knows that they're not only working on their new album (which will apparently be the last one, since Carlos Dengler has announced that he'll leave the band after the release of it), but also that their world tour will soon stop in Italy.

We will have the chance to see "the four New Yorkers" playing live in Rome, on October 8 (but just a few songs, since they'll open the show for the U2), and in Milan, on November 17.
"Indipendente concerti" is now selling the tickets for the Milan concert, so hurry up if you don't want to miss this great opportunity!
You can find all the tour dates on Interpol's official website.

Let's listen up to Interpol's new single, "Lights".

Forgiveness

Hi guys, I'm sorry for not having posted anything through all these days, but I've been superbusy with my exams and I couldn't find a moment to dedicate to my music research; so, instead of presenting something meaningless, just to fill a post, I've preferred not to do it. Now I just have to pass one more exam and I'll be done! To help you forgiving me for my absence, I decided to create a post to try to contain some latest releases, so to keep me and keep you updated as much as possible.
Glad to be again on the spot,
G.

P.s. This post contains just two songs...I've not obviously been able to take some more time to research! Sorry again guys!

Psychobuildings - No Man's Land (they're from Nyc, and that is obvious...)

Junip - Rope and Summit (try to look beyond)
