Beady Eye

The relationship between Liam and Noel Gallagher has never been idyllic, and this isn't certainly a big news; with their brawls on stage, their brawls in the backstage and their brawls in hotels, the two brothers have never left us empty-handed, as far as gossip is concerned.
But now, after the recent dissolution of Oasis, caused by another big fight between the two, there's a big news: Beady Eye, the new Liam Gallagher's band, are out with a new single: "Bring the Light".

What a news!!!

The incredibly talented and prolific Damon Albarn, from Blur, Gorillaz and The Good, The Bad and The Queen, has announced his participation to a new project, which also includes the drummer Tony Allen and the bassist of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Flea.
Although the group doesn't have a name yet (or, as far as we know, it hasn't been announced), Damon has confirmed that the album is on its way and that it has been completed in most of his songs.
Albarn has also announced that he's working with Gorillaz on their new album, despite Plastic Bleach has been released this year, and this also demonstrates the stakhanovism of the artist.
In addition to that, he also said that he hopes to return soon to work with The Good, The Bad and The Queen and that he's planning to come out with a solo album.
What an artist!!!

Belle & Sebastien

They're finally back! Belle & Sebastien are out with their new album, called "Write About Love".

The waiting has been long, more than 4 years actually, but since they're back, let's talk about their LP.
Their new songs do not distance themselves from what we have been used to listen: accessible, free and catchy songs that you feel you could listen to all the time.
But ('cause there's always a "but"), while their previous albums have been almost life-changing, as far as music is concerned, for all of us, this one isn't such a breakthrough: listening to it, it seems just to have turned the album and being listening to the other side of it; which isn't something very exciting, after a 4 year waiting!
Today I'm posting 2 songs of the new album...just let me know what you think!

Go, if you gotta go...

If you listen to Mirrors, you'll realize how much they sound like a mixture between New Order and Depeche Mode. Nothing else to say...just listen to "Hide & Seek" and tell me if I'm wrong!

Wolfang Electro Phoenix

Here we go again...Phoenix continue to surprise us; the french alternative rock band members decided to keep cultivating the electronic vein that has always characterized their sound, but in an even more extreme way: in these days they're presenting some track so distinctly electro, but yet so distinctly "phoenix", that, I'm sure, their fans are going to love!
One of these is Love Like a Sunset Pt. 3, the song that I'm presenting you in this post: markedly electro in the sound, it follows the trail of the electro tradition also because it has almost no lyrics (at least until minute 4); it reminds me pretty clearly of the soundtrack of the trailer of "Somewhere" by Sofia Coppola (Mrs. Thomas Mars, frontman of Phoenix) that I've presented you in a previous post...I hope you'll like it, 'cause I do!
P.s. While listening, if you feel that you're missing Thomas' voice, just go to minute 4..! I do it, too (sometimes...)!

R.I.P. Sparklehorse

Let's pretend it's March 6...(it's just that I wanted to post something from Sparklehorse).
Today a great artist committed suicide and left the world of international music bewildered. Mark Linkous was not just the frontman of Sparklehorse, but he also was the soul and mind of the band. He had a very complicated life, marked by a special event: in 1996, while supporting Radiohead on the first Sparklehorse tour, Linkous overdosed on alcohol, Valium and antidepressants and possibly other substances in his London hotel room. Rendered unconscious by the combination of drugs, he collapsed with his legs pinned beneath him, and remained in that position for almost fourteen hours. He was treated at St Mary's Hospital, London. Subsequent surgeries saved both legs but left him wheelchair-bound for six months; his legs never fully regained their original strength.
Linkous committed suicide by shooting himself in the heart outside a friend's house in Knoxville at 1:20 pm on March 6, 2010. He was 47 years old. According to a spokesperson for the Police Department, the musician was staying with two friends, who told authorities that he had been drinking heavily and had become upset after trading text messages with an unknown person. The friends said Linkous went upstairs for a short period, then told the two that he was going for a walk and exited through a back door. A witness saw him sit down in the alley near Irwin Street, pull out his rifle, and fire into his own chest. Linkous was declared dead at the scene.
Within a few hours of his death, a message attributed to the Linkous family was posted on the official Sparklehorse website: “It is with great sadness that we share the news that our dear friend and family member, Mark Linkous, took his own life today. We are thankful for his time with us and will hold him forever in our hearts. May his journey be peaceful, happy and free. There’s a heaven and there’s a star for you.” A number of notable musicians and people in the music world made statements mourning the loss of Linkous, including Patti Smith, Radiohead's Colin Greenwood, Death Cab For Cutie's Chris Walla, Steven Drozd of The Flaming Lips and many more.
In honor of his enormous weight in the world of international music, I decided to post some of his greatest masterpieces.
(Thanks for pretending with me it's March 6!)

Blank

No inspiration at all...just a nice picture and a great song...that's it! Should I commit more?! Well, maybe...but isn't this a blog about music? Let's say that I want to keep it simple... ; )
